Thames Valley Council for Community Action is looking for an Assistant Teacher in New London, Connecticut. The role involves ensuring the care and safety of children in the classroom, implementing educational programs, and overseeing operations in the absence of the Head Teacher.
Qualified candidates should have a CDA with ECE credits or an associate’s/bachelor’s degree in ECE. Additional requirements include certifications in first-aid and CPR, along with a good health statement from a qualified health professional.
Assistant Teacher is responsible for the care, supervision, and safety of classroom children. Tasks include planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum, maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly classroom and playground. The teacher must demonstrate compassion and understanding of the needs of children and families from all backgrounds, learning, implementing, and following all program policies and procedures. Additionally, the teacher encourages self‑esteem and independence, supports social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development, and incorporates health, safety, and nutritional education into curriculum planning. In the Head Teacher’s absence, the assistant oversees program operations.
