Job summary

TVCCA, Thames Valley Council for Community Action, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the care, supervision, and safety of center children and assist staff in planning age-appropriate curriculum.

The role requires maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly classroom and playground, understanding the needs of families from diverse backgrounds, and following all program policies. Health, safety and nutritional education should be integrated into daily planning, and the Assistant Teacher

Qualifications

• Valid CDA with 12 credits in ECE, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in ECE or a related field with 12 ECE credits, preferred.
• Enrolled in a program that will lead to an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in ECE or a related field with 12 ECE credits, to be completed within three years of the time of hire.
• Enrolled in a CDA credential program, and obtain 12 ECE credits to be completed within two years of the time of hire.
• Must have access to reliable, insured transportation.
• Must have or obtain and maintain CT child care first-aid, child CPR, and medication administration certification.

Pay Rates Are As Follows

• $19.50 Enrolled in a CDA or degree program
• $19.75 CDA and 12 ECE credits
• $20.50 Associate’s Degree in ECE or relevant field with 12 ECE credits
• $21.50 Bachelor’s Degree in ECE or relevant field with 12 ECE credits

OR

• Enrolled in a program that will lead to an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in ECE or a related field with 12 ECE credits, to be completed within three years of the time of hire.

• Enrolled in a CDA credential program, and obtain 12 ECE credits to be completed within two years of the time of hire.
• Have access to reliable, insured transportation.
• Must have or obtain and maintain CT child care first-aid, child CPR, and medication administration certification.
• Provide a TVCCA Staff Statement of Good Health statement signed by a physician, physician’s assistant, or nurse practitioner completed within twelve (12) months before the date of employment, and every twenty-four (24) months for current staff.
• Provide a written report of negative tuberculin test completed within twelve (12) months prior to the date of employment, or for a known prior reactor, no evidence of active tuberculosis on a chest x-ray.
