Job summary

Atlas Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in creating a joyful, rigorous, and safe learning environment for all students. You will assist with classroom instruction, supervise non-instructional times, and help with intersession programming as needed.

You will reinforce skills through guided practice, monitor progress, and communicate observations to the grade-level team. A substitute teaching certificate and US work eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required; higher education preferred.
• Experience working with children in school or youth settings is preferred.
• Substitute teaching certificate is required.

• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher with daily classroom instruction in small groups, whole class, and individualized settings.
• Reinforce academic goals through guided practice, intervention, and enrichment activities.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal and other non-instructional times.
• Maintain a positive, structured, safe classroom aligned with Atlas culture and expectations.
• Prepare materials, bulletin boards, and learning space upkeep.
• Monitor progress and report observations to the Lead Teacher and grade-level team.
• Support social-emotional development and positive peer interactions.
• Provide coverage and instruction when Lead Teacher is absent.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student success.
• Follow Atlas policies and safety protocols; participate in PD and meetings.
