Job summary

The Learning Experience - Gurnee in Gurnee, IL is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms. You’ll work with experienced educators to create a safe, nurturing environment.

If you’re passionate about early childhood education, we’d love to meet you. You’ll help with daily activities, supervision, stories, and learning through play.

This is a full-time position (Monday–Friday) paying $18.00 per hour, with paid training and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience with childcare or preschool settings preferred.
• Willingness to learn and follow licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Teachers with daily classroom activities and routines.
• Assist with curriculum and hands-on learning experiences.
• Engage children through stories, music, and activities.
• Maintain supervision and appropriate teacher-to-child ratios.
• Help with meals, diapering, rest time, and transitions.
• Keep classrooms clean, organized, and welcoming.

The Learning Experience - Gurnee is hiring an enthusiastic and dependable Assistant Teacher to support our Infant, Toddler, and Preschool classrooms.

As an Assistant Teacher, you'll work alongside experienced educators to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn, explore, and grow.

What You'll Do

• Support Lead Teachers with daily classroom activities and routines
• Assist with The Learning Experience's L.E.A.P. Curriculum
• Engage children through stories, music, art, sensory play, and hands-on learning
• Encourage language development, independence, and positive social interactions
• Support meals, diapering, toileting, rest time, and classroom transitions as appropriate
• Maintain active supervision and appropriate teacher-to-child ratios
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
• Keep classrooms clean, organized, and welcoming
• Follow Illinois DCFS childcare licensing, health, and safety requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous professional childcare, daycare, preschool, or experience working with children preferred
• Early Childhood Education coursework or CDA is a plus, but not required
• Patient, dependable, energetic, and team-oriented
• Willingness to learn and support children across different age groups
• Must meet applicable Illinois DCFS requirements for the assigned position
