Job summary

The Learning Experience - Gurnee is hiring an enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to support Infant, Toddler, and Preschool classrooms. You will work with experienced educators to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn, explore, and grow.

Whether you have childcare experience or are starting a career in early childhood education, we’d love to meet you! This full-time role runs Monday to Friday with a focus on teamwork and professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous professional childcare, daycare, or preschool experience preferred.
• Willingness to learn and support children across different age groups.
• Must meet Illinois DCFS requirements for the assigned position.

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Teachers with daily classroom activities and routines.
• Assist with The Learning Experience's L.E.A.P. Curriculum.
• Engage children through stories, music, art, sensory play and hands-on learning.
• Encourage language development, independence and positive social interactions.
• Support meals, diapering, toileting, rest time and classroom transitions as appropriate.
• Maintain active supervision and appropriate teacher-to-child ratios.
• Build positive relationships with children, families and coworkers.
• Keep classrooms clean, organized and welcoming.
• Follow Illinois DCFS childcare licensing, health and safety requirements.
