Base pay range

$37,000.00/yr - $45,000.00/yr

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in maintaining records on each child's progress and development for planning and compliance with Head Start Standards.
  • Support the full implementation of performance standards, policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines in the operation of an early childhood development center (ages 3-5).
  • Help plan and implement daily activities based on child development principles and curriculum.
  • Review each child's progress and develop plans to promote growth based on assessments.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and attractive classroom environment conducive to children's development.
  • Develop positive relationships with children to promote self-esteem and discipline.
  • Assist in implementing IEPs and including children with disabilities and special needs.
  • Support planning and execution of educational field trips.
  • Conduct home visits and parent conferences with the teacher.
  • Participate in staff meetings, center activities, and staff development.
  • Assist in implementing parent involvement activities as directed by the Education Director and teacher.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Some college credits in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • CDA or 15 credits in Early Childhood Education.
  • Teacher Assistant Certification preferred.
  • At least one year of teaching experience in Head Start or UPK programs.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred; strong communication, time management, and organizational skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard business technology required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods.
  • Ability to climb stairs for home visits or fieldwork.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects or documents.
  • Ability to travel within NYC boroughs and adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel approximately 1 mile in various weather conditions for home visits or fieldwork.
