Job summary

Discovery Point Flowery Branch is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in planning lessons and guiding children through activities aligned with an approved curriculum that promotes social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. The role maintains a safe and healthy learning environment.

You will help implement daily activities, help set up classrooms, and supervise children while modeling respectful, positive interactions.

Qualifications

• Must meet state licensing requirements for education and experience.
• Knowledge of Early childhood education curriculum.
• Ability to be trained in CPR and Fire Safety

Responsibilities

• Works with Lead Teacher to set up and maintain a safe, age-appropriate learning environment.
• Assists in daily activities preparation and classroom cleanup.
• Treats children with dignity and respect and guides positive behavior.
• Supervises children as required by regulations and acts as lead in absence of Lead Teacher.
• Maintains confidentiality of information on children and families.
• Reports suspected child abuse or neglect as required by state regulations.
• Performs other duties as requested by Lead Teacher or Director.

Assistant Teacher Essential Functions Include:

• Works with Lead Teacher in setting up and maintaining the classroom to ensure a safe, fun and age appropriate learning environment. Makes the classroom available for tours for prospective families as requested.
• Assists with the preparation of the classroom for daily activities and assists in the clean-up after activities are complete.
• Treats the children with dignity and respect, displaying friendly, enthusiastic and caring behavior, while guiding them in a positive manner and teaching them to respect themselves and others.
• Supervises the children as required by the Center and state regulations and according to the lesson plans; functions as the lead teacher in the absence of Lead teacher when needed. .
• Maintains confidentiality of all information on the children and their families.
• Reports suspected child abuse or neglect as mandated by state regulations.
• Performs other duties as requested by the Lead Teacher or Director/Owner. May work in other classrooms other than the one usually assigned.
