Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Part-Time Assistant Teacher to support our preschool classrooms. This role involves assisting the Lead Teacher in implementing daily activities, ensuring child safety, and creating a positive, inclusive environment for our young learners. The position is for 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule to be determined based on program needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in delivering age-appropriate activities, including arts, crafts, storytime, and outdoor play.
• Supervise children during classroom activities, meals, nap times, and transitions to ensure safety and engagement.
• Support children with daily routines, such as toileting, handwashing, and snack preparation, while promoting independence.
• Foster a warm and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging social-emotional growth and positive interactions.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized classroom in compliance with state health and safety regulations.
• Communicate effectively with parents and staff about children’s daily experiences and needs.
• Assist with setup and cleanup of classroom materials and activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred).
• At least 1 year of experience working with children ages 3-5 in a daycare, preschool, or similar setting.
• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities for preschoolers.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a patient, nurturing demeanor.
• Ability to pass a background check and meet Washington State licensing requirements.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Familiarity with Washington State potty training and health/safety regulations is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, bend, kneel, and sit at child level.
• Comfort standing and moving actively throughout the shift.

Schedule and Compensation

• Hours: 20 hours per week, part-time (specific schedule TBD, may include mornings or afternoons).
• Compensation: Competitive hourly wage, commensurate with experience.
