Job summary

Child Development Schools is seeking an Assistant Teacher to help create a classroom filled with discovery, learning, and joy. You will support young learners alongside the Lead Teacher, delivering age-appropriate activities and fostering curiosity, kindness, and growth.

You will engage with children throughout the day, maintain a safe, welcoming environment, and help with attendance and reports. A background check is required, and a passion for early childhood education is essential.

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Genuine care for children and a commitment to safety.
  • Strong communication and ability to build relationships with families.
  • Physical ability to meet demands of working with young children.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Lead Teacher with age-appropriate lessons and activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom meeting licensing and ratio requirements.
  • Engage directly with children during activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor time.
  • Observe children and share developmental notes with the Lead Teacher.
  • Build relationships with families through daily communication.
  • Assist with attendance and daily documentation.

Your role

As an Assistant Teacher at Child Development Schools, you will help create a classroom filled with discovery, creativity, learning, and joy. Working alongside your Lead Teacher, you will support young learners through meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, kindness, and growth. From hands-on activities and storytelling to everyday learning moments, you will help shape a warm and welcoming environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to explore the world around them.

What your day looks like:

  • Support the Lead Teacher in delivering age-appropriate lessons and activities for the classroom
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that meets licensing and ratio requirements
  • Engage directly with children during activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor time
  • Observe children and share developmental notes with the Lead Teacher
  • Build relationships with families through warm, consistent daily communication
  • Assist with classroom documentation including attendance and daily reports
Pay and benefits

Pay:$11-$12.75 per hour, based on experience and education.

Qualifications

A degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education and prior experience in a licensed childcare center are a plus, but not required. We hire for character and train for skill.
