Job summary

Child Development Schools is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support our Lead Teacher in delivering nurturing early childhood education. You’ll help create a safe, engaging classroom filled with discovery and joy, and you’ll work closely with families to foster a positive learning environment.

You will participate in hands-on activities, storytelling, and daily routines, observing children and conveying progress notes. We hire for character and train for skill.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Genuine care for children and a commitment to their safety and well‑being.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with families.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of working with young children.
• A degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Teacher by delivering age-appropriate lessons and activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom in line with licensing and ratios.
• Engage directly with children during activities, meals, transitions and outdoor time.
• Observe children and share developmental notes with the Lead Teacher.
• Build relationships with families through warm, consistent communication.
• Assist with classroom documentation including attendance and daily reports.

Assistant Teacher

Your role

As an Assistant Teacher at Child Development Schools, you will help create a classroom filled with discovery, creativity, learning, and joy. Working alongside your Lead Teacher, you will support young learners through meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, kindness, and growth. From hands-on activities and storytelling to everyday learning moments, you will help shape a warm and welcoming environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to explore the world around them.

You will serve as a trusted partner to families, a positive role model for children, and an important part of our collaborative teaching team dedicated to making early childhood education engaging, nurturing, safe, and fun.

What your day looks like:

• Support the Lead Teacher in delivering age-appropriate lessons and activities for the [AGE GROUP] classroom
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that meets licensing and ratio requirements
• Engage directly with children during activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor time
• Observe children and share developmental notes with the Lead Teacher
• Build relationships with families through warm, consistent daily communication
• Assist with classroom documentation including attendance and daily reports

Pay and benefits

Pay: $11-$14 per hour, based on experience and education.
