Duke University is seeking qualified candidates for the Assistant Swimming Coach Position with an efficient work-ethic and strong administrative skill set. This position will have an priority administrative focus in addition to assisting with the coaching of a Division I Swimming and Diving Program.
Essential Functions:
• Assist coaching staff with practices of Division I student-athletes
• Recruitment of student-athletes
• Serve as meet director for home competitions
• Liaison between the Swimming and Diving program and Game Day Operations
• Assist with planning of official and unofficial recruiting visits
• Assist coaching staff with donor relations including facilitating tours and correspondence
• Ordering, distribution and inventory of team practice and competition uniforms
• Ordering, distribution and inventory of team practice and competition equipment
• Organize team travel, budget tracking travel, securing travel advances, and clearing procurement expenses
• Organization of all on-campus Team Meals
• Securing cash advances for athlete per diem during break time
• Plan and organize community service activities for the team
• Liaison between Duke Swimming and Diving and our parent group liaison
• Organize Annual team Awards Banquet
• Plan, coordinate, and distribute alumni mailings, emails, newsletters, and reunions
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach
Qualifications:
• Prior collegiate coaching or competition experience preferably at the Division I level
• A commitment to knowing and complying with NCAA, ACC, and institutional rules
• CPR and AED certification required
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
• Excellent written and oral skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to learn quickly and communicate effectively
• Excellent organizational ability and attention to detail
• Ability to manage time well and prioritize tasks
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills needed
• The scope of this position requires weekend, evening and possible holiday hours
• Thrive in fast paced environment, possess a keen attention to details, and ability to multi-task
