Job summary

Delta State University is seeking a qualified candidate to assist in coaching and managing the intercollegiate swimming/diving program. Responsibilities include coordinating schedules, developing programs, and overseeing student athletes' academic progress. A Bachelor's degree is required, with a Master's preferred. Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this candidate will include:

  • Assisting in coaching and directing DSU’s intercollegiate swimming/diving program (including management of scholarships, practice, recruiting, etc.)
  • Coordinating schedules with the Aquatics Director to ensure pool safety and maintenance
  • Developing and marketing new programs to increase utilization of the Aquatics Center and meet community needs
  • Implementing, updating, and enforcing emergency action plans for the aquatic facility
  • Developing competition schedules and organizing team travel for swim/dive teams
  • Overseeing academic advising and monitoring academic progress of student athletes
  • Overseeing routine cleaning of the aquatic area and equipment inventory
  • Organizing and implementing promotional and fundraising activities to support the Swim Program
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Certifications in Lifeguard Training, Water Safety, Water Exercise, CPR/FA/AED from American Red Cross, YMCA, or equivalent, with instructor certification. Certified Pool Operator with knowledge of health and safety standards and regulations for public pools. Coaching experience, preferably at the college level, and experience in pool facility management are also required.

Additional Information

Salary is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and university resources.
