Job summary

HealthFitness is seeking an energetic Assistant Swim Team Coach to support the swim program at our client site in West Hartford, CT. This part-time role offers approximately 10 hours per week and provides an opportunity to impact swimmers' growth while working in a supportive team environment.

You will assist the head coach with age-appropriate workouts, attend weekday practices, manage meet logistics, record workouts and attendance, and help engage parents to foster a collaborative team

Qualifications

• Must possess USA swimming coaching credentials (or obtain upon hire).
• Strong foundation in swim technique and stroke development.
• Ability to communicate effectively with swimmers and parents.
• Willingness to work on weekends for swim meets.

Responsibilities

• Assist head coach in creating age-appropriate workouts focusing on technique and endurance.
• Lead structured practices on weekday evenings throughout the year.
• Record workouts and track daily attendance.
• Coordinate swim meets, registrations, and timing data.
• Engage parents and foster a collaborative team environment.
• Support stroke clinics and coach training opportunities.

Attends swim meets and team functions throughout the year, and is responsible for creating and maintaining a clean, safe and positive environment for the swim team participants.Key Accountabilities:Assist head coach in creating thorough, age-appropriate workouts focusing on technique, endurance, stroke development, and practice drillsParticipate in structured practices in weekday evenings throughout the yearAssist head coach with administrative matters relating to the team, swim meet arrangements and team performance as well as interaction with parentsHelp to record all workouts and track daily attendanceAssist in coordinating and executing swim team competitions and meet registrations and recording times and collecting other relevant data at swim meets; attend swim team events such as meets, meetings, social events, etc. at the direction of the head coach; assist in swim team social event planning, as necessaryEngage parents and cultivate relationships to create a collaborative swim team environmentAssist in stroke clinics (if any) offered between competitive seasonsParticipate in coach training opportunities offered by the head coachAssist in maintaining a clean, safe and positive environment for swim team participantsAdditional duties as needed or assignedMinimum Requirements:Possesses (or can obtain upon hire) USA swimming coaching credentialsMust be able to demonstrate proficiency of swim skills and have a strong foundation in stroke mechanics and be able to communicate effectively with swimmers and their parentsWill work on weekends at swim meetsEnthusiastic, dynamic presence with good communication skillsCPR for Professional Rescuer, AED, and First Aid certifications or willingness to obtainApplicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test. The compensation range for this role is $18 - $20/hour. The final wage offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
