Job summary

Qualifications

• Weekend availability for swim meets.
• CPR for Professional Rescuer, AED, and First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist head coach in creating age-appropriate workouts focusing on technique and endurance.
• Attend weekday evening practices and year-round swim meets.
• Support administrative tasks for meets and team performance, including data recording.
• Record workouts and track daily attendance.
• Assist in meet registrations and event planning with the head coach.

About the role

Join the HealthFitness Aquatics Team! HealthFitness is looking for an energetic Assistant Swim Team Coach to support the swim program at our client site in West Hartford, CT. This part-time role offers approximately 10 hours per week and provides an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on swimmers' growth and success while working in a supportive team environment.

Provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for swim team participants. Attends swim meets and team functions throughout the year, and is responsible for creating and maintaining a clean, safe and positive environment for the swim team participants.

Key Accountabilities:

• Assist head coach in creating thorough, age-appropriate workouts focusing on technique, endurance, stroke development, and practice drills
• Participate in structured practices in weekday evenings throughout the year
• Assist head coach with administrative matters relating to the team, swim meet arrangements and team performance as well as interaction with parents
• Help to record all workouts and track daily attendance
• Assist in coordinating and executing swim team competitions and meet registrations and recording times and collecting other relevant data at swim meets; attend swim team events such as meets, meetings, social events, etc. at the direction of the head coach; assist in swim team social event planning, as necessary
• Engage parents and cultivate relationships to create a collaborative swim team environment
• Assist in stroke clinics (if any) offered between competitive seasons
• Participate in coach training opportunities offered by the head coach
• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and positive environment for swim team participants
• Additional duties as needed or assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• Possesses (or can obtain upon hire) USA swimming coaching credentials
• Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of swim skills and have a strong foundation in stroke mechanics and be able to communicate effectively with swimmers and their parents
• Will work on weekends at swim meets
• Enthusiastic, dynamic presence with good communication skills
• CPR for Professional Rescuer, AED, and First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain

Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test. The compensation range for this role is $18 - $20/hour. The final wage offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
