Job summary

YMCA of Greater Cleveland is seeking an Assistant Swim Team Coach to support the Head Coach in leading age-appropriate practice sessions, promoting YMCA values, and ensuring a safe, engaging learning environment for swimmers. The role emphasizes coaching skill development, relationship-building with families, and involvement with volunteers.

Responsibilities include attending practices, teaching strokes, maintaining safety standards, and assisting with volunteer recruitment and organization.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer preferred.
• Prior coaching experience preferred.
• Must be able to demonstrate correct swim techniques and strokes.
• Visual abilities for monitoring swimmers and safety in pool environment.

Responsibilities

• Attend all practices and swim meets.
• Teach strokes and techniques to swimmers; provide corrective feedback.
• Build positive relationships with swimmers, parents and volunteers.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed during practice.
• Lead group warm ups and run practices with enthusiasm.
• Assist with recruiting and coordinating volunteers and parent groups.
