Seeking a passionate Swim Coach for the Ridgewood YMCA!

Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Ridgewood YMCA creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes all individuals while promoting safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. The age-group coach is responsible for on-deck instruction and coaching of swimmers, assisting the Director of Competitive Swimming and other coaching staff with daily operations. Every position at the Ridgewood YMCA upholds principles central to the YMCA mission.

Qualifications

• Supports a long-term athlete development model
• Current or in the process of obtaining required USA Swimming certifications
• Background in competitive swimming
• Experience coaching novice and age group swimmers
• Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, and first aid
• Current American Red Cross Certification
• Child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
• Experience working with children or in related fields
• Ability to work well with children of various ages and abilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with a flexible schedule
• Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor
