Job summary

Perini Management Services, Inc., a Tutor Perini Company, is seeking an Assistant Superintendent/Site Safety & Health Officer to join our team in the Augusta, GA area.

Lead, coordinate and supervise construction activities with a focus on safety and adherence to the Site-Specific Safety Plan. Applicants should have five or more years in construction and OSHA 30 training to qualify for this role.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of construction experience with 2+ years in field supervision or related leadership role.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction processes (civil, structural, MEP).
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Experience with Federal Government Clients preferred (e.g., NPS, USACE).
• OSHA 30 training completed and documented annually.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent to Lead, schedule, coordinate and supervise the construction work, including supervision of craft subcontractor/employee activities.
• Coordinate the project’s safety effort and ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures in the Site-Specific Safety Plan.
• Manage subcontractors to ensure compliance with OSHA and Perini’s safety program.
• Perform daily safety and quality inspections of trades/work areas and correct unsafe conditions.
• Facilitate weekly toolbox talks and present safety updates during progress meetings.
• Plan and supervise subcontractor and craft activities including method, manpower, materials, equipment, and schedules.
• Coordinate work with different crafts, departments, or other contractors.
• Review safety documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, and planning to ensure compliance with drawings and schedules.
• Identify and resolve construction problems and workflow conflicts.
• Monitor craft compliance with Safety and Quality Control programs.
• Assist Project Management with development of the Project Execution Schedule and site logistics.
• Monitor schedule progress daily/weekly/monthly and develop 4-week look-ahead schedules.

DESCRIPTION:

• Assist the Superintendent to Lead, schedule, coordinate and supervise the construction work, including supervision and of craft subcontractor/ employee activities.
• Coordinate the project’s safety effort and ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures included in the Site-Specific Safety Plan.
• Manage subcontractors to ensure compliance with OSHA and Perini’s safety program.
• Perform daily safety and quality inspections of trades/work areas and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors as they are discovered.
• Facilitate weekly toolbox talk meetings and presents safety updates to clients during progress meetings.
• Plan and supervise Subcontractor and/or craft activities by determining method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documenting actual hours worked.
• Coordinate assigned work with work of different crafts, company departments, or other contractors.
• Review all safety documentation to ensure records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures.
• Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule.
• Identify and assist in resolving construction problems such as lack of productivity, work interfaces, conflicts in drawings & site conditions, etc.
• Monitor craft compliance with project Safety and Quality Control program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
• Assist Project Management with the development of the Project Execution Schedule, site logistics, project procedures, standards, etc.
• Monitor Schedule Progress Daily, Weekly, Monthly
• Develop 4 week look ahead schedules and review with construction team / Subcontractors weekly.

Requirements:

• Five or more years Construction work experience with 2 or more years in a field supervision or related leadership role (e.g., Supt, Asst Supt, Forman, Crew Lead, etc.) on medium-sized commercial or Federal projects.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, including civil, structural, and MEP systems.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced field environment.
• Experience managing construction safety, completed the OSHA 30 training, documented safety training annually.
• Experience with Federal Government Clients; NPS, USACE or similar, preferred
• Experience with Historical Renovation Work preferred.
