Job summary

Perini Management Services Inc., a Tutor Perini Company, is seeking an Assistant Superintendent/ Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to join our Team in the Augusta, GA area. The role focuses on coordinating safety programs, supervising construction activities, and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards.

Qualified candidates will have five or more years in construction with at least two years in field supervision, OSHA 30 training, and experience with federal clients preferred.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of construction work experience with leadership exposure (e.g., Supt, Asst Supt, Foreman).
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, and schedules.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent to lead, schedule, coordinate and supervise construction work.
• Coordinate the project’s safety effort and ensure compliance with safety policies.
• Manage subcontractors to ensure OSHA and company safety program compliance.
• Perform daily safety and quality inspections and correct unsafe conditions.
• Facilitate toolbox talks and present safety updates to clients during progress meetings.
• Plan and supervise subcontractor activities, determine methods, manpower, quantities, equipment, and schedules.

EXTRAORDINARY Projects need Exceptional Talent DESCRIPTION:

• Assist the Superintendent to Lead, schedule, coordinate and supervise the construction work, including supervision and of craft subcontractor/ employee activities.
• Coordinate the project’s safety effort and ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures included in the Site-Specific Safety Plan.
• Manage subcontractors to ensure compliance with OSHA and Perini’s safety program.
• Perform daily safety and quality inspections of trades/work areas and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors as they are discovered.
• Facilitate weekly toolbox talk meetings and presents safety updates to clients during progress meetings.
• Plan and supervise Subcontractor and/or craft activities by determining method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documenting actual hours worked.
• Coordinate assigned work with work of different crafts, company departments, or other contractors.
• Review all safety documentation to ensure records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures.
• Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule.
• Identify and assist in resolving construction problems such as lack of productivity, work interfaces, conflicts in drawings & site conditions, etc.
• Monitor craft compliance with project Safety and Quality Control program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
• Assist Project Management with the development of the Project Execution Schedule, site logistics, project procedures, standards, etc.
• Monitor Schedule Progress Daily, Weekly, Monthly Develop 4 week look ahead schedules and review with construction team / Subcontractors weekly.

Requirements

• Five or more years Construction work experience with 2 or more years in a field supervision or related leadership role (e.g., Supt, Asst Supt, Forman, Crew Lead, etc.) on medium-sized commercial or Federal projects.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, including civil, structural, and MEP systems.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced field environment.
• Experience managing construction safety, completed the OSHA 30 training, documented safety training annually.
• Experience with Federal Government Clients; NPS, USACE or similar, preferred Experience with Historical Renovation Work preferred.
