Job summary

Tutor Perini Corporation is seeking an Assistant Superintendent / Safety Engineer to join Perini Management Services in San Juan, PR. You will identify hazards, develop corrective actions with subcontractors, assist in safety planning, train employees, lead safety meetings, and ensure compliance with the Site-Specific Safety Plan and company policies on site.

This role reports to the Operations Manager and requires OSHA 30 certification, 3+ years of construction safety experience, knowledge of

Qualifications

• OSHA 30 certification required.
• 3+ years of construction safety experience.
• Knowledgeable in construction processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Identify hazards and coordinate corrective actions with subcontractors.
• Assist in developing Activity Hazard Analyses and safety plans.
• Coordinate the project safety effort and ensure compliance with Site-Specific Safety Plan.
• Attend construction meetings to guide pre-planning and required trainings.
• Provide safety training to employees and subcontractors as needed.
• Facilitate project safety orientation and ensure attendance.
• Participate in client and subcontractor safety meetings.
• Perform daily safety inspections and report findings to SSHO.
• Assist with incident investigations and implement preventative measures.
• Review safety documentation for accuracy and timely submission.
• Issue permits (e.g., confined space, hot work) as required and coordinate safety audits.

Description:

As an Assistant Superintendent / Safety Engineer at Perini Management Services, reporting to our Operations Manager , you will have the opportunity to:

• Identifies hazards, develops corrective action plans with the responsible subcontractor, and ensures they are closed in a timely manner.
• Assist with the development and implementation of Activity Hazard Analyses.
• Assists in coordinating the project’s safety effort and ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures included in the Site-Specific Safety Plan.
• Attend all construction meetings to provide guidance for the pre-planning of work activities, ensure that employees have required training.
• Provide training to employees and subcontractors, as necessary.
• Facilitate the project safety orientation program and ensure that all employees attend prior to working on-site.
• Participate in project meetings with clients and subcontractors.
• Attend and participate in weekly safety meetings, assist in resolving safety questions and ensure that the meetings are productive and practical.
• Perform daily safety inspections of trades/work areas and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors as they are discovered. Submit a written report to the SSHO daily.
• Assists with accident/incident investigation. Reviews reports to ensure that investigations are complete and that preventative measures are in place.
• Review all safety documentation to ensure records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures.
• Issues and/or ensures all required permits (confined space entry, hot work, etc.) to subcontractors as necessary.
• Coordinate and accompany all project safety audits by the client, owner, insurance or other safety representatives.

Requirements:

• Completed the OSHA 30 hr.
• 3+ years of construction safety experience.
• Knowledgeable in construction processes and procedures.
