Job summary

Perini Management Services Inc. is seeking a Superintendent/SSHO for a new project at Death Valley National Park, CA. The role leads construction activities, coordinates safety efforts, and supervises subcontractors to meet OSHA standards. U.S. citizenship and federal project experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ten or more years in a construction superintendent role on medium-sized projects.
  • Supervisory experience over civil and site work, underground utilities, directional drilling, or water treatment facilities.
  • Five years of experience managing construction safety.
  • Completed OSHA 30 training with documented annual safety training.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Experience with Federal Government Clients, NPS or USACE preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, schedule, coordinate and supervise the construction work, including supervision of subcontractors and employees.
  • Coordinate the project’s safety effort and ensure compliance with safety policies and Site-Specific Safety Plan.
  • Manage subcontractors to ensure compliance with OSHA and Perini’s safety program.
  • Perform daily safety inspections and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks and present safety updates to clients during progress meetings.
  • Plan and supervise subcontractor activities, determine method of construction, manpower, materials, schedule, and hours worked.
  • Coordinate work with other crafts, departments, or contractors.
  • Review safety documentation for completeness and accuracy.

Description
  • Lead, schedule, coordinate and supervise the construction work, including supervision and of craft subcontractor/ employee activities
  • Coordinate the project’s safety effort and ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures included in the Site-Specific Safety Plan
  • Manage subcontractors to ensure compliance with OSHA and Perini’s safety program
  • Perform daily safety inspections of trades/work areas and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors as they are discovered
  • Facilitate weekly toolbox talk meetings and presents safety updates to clients during progress meetings
  • Plan and supervise Subcontractor and/or craft activities by determining method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documenting actual hours worked
  • Coordinate assigned work with work of different crafts, company departments, or other contractors
  • Review all safety documentation to ensure records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures
  • Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule
  • Identify and assist in resolving construction problems such as lack of productivity, work interfaces, conflicts in drawings & site conditions, etc.
  • Monitor craft compliance with project Safety and Quality Control program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented
  • Assist Project Management with the development of the Project Execution Schedule, site logistics, project procedures, standards, etc.
  • Monitor and update Schedule Progress Daily, Weekly, Monthly
  • Develop 4 week look ahead schedules and review with construction team / Subcontractors weekly
Requirements
  • Ten or more years in work experience in a construction Superintendent position on medium-sized projects (greater than $25M.)
  • Work experience must include supervisory positions overseeing significant civil and site work, underground utility installations such as water and wastewater systems, directional drilling, and/or water treatment facilities
  • Five years of experience managing construction safety
  • Completed OSHA 30 training with documented annual safety training
  • Knowledge, skills and experience with U.S. construction methods, techniques, and standards
  • Experience with Federal Government Clients, NPS or USACE preferred
  • Resume shall indicate area of expertise (e.g. civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, materials, finishes, etc.)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
