Job summary

Perini Management Services, Inc., a Tutor Perini Company, in San Juan, PR, seeks an Assistant Superintendent / Safety Engineer to lead safety on complex construction projects.

You will identify hazards, develop corrective action plans with subcontractors, oversee Activity Hazard Analyses, and ensure compliance with the Site-Specific Safety Plan, while conducting trainings and daily on-site safety inspections.

Qualifications

• Completed OSHA 30 hr.
• 3+ years of construction safety experience.
• Knowledgeable in construction processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Identify hazards, develop corrective action plans with the responsible subcontractor, and ensure they are closed in a timely manner.
• Assist with the development and implementation of Activity Hazard Analyses.
• Assist in coordinating the project's safety effort and ensure compliance with the Site-Specific Safety Plan.
• Attend all construction meetings to provide guidance for the pre-planning of work activities and ensure proper training.
• Provide training to employees and subcontractors as necessary.
• Facilitate the project safety orientation program and ensure all employees attend prior to working on-site.
• Participate in project meetings with clients and subcontractors.
• Attend and participate in weekly safety meetings and help resolve safety questions.
• Perform daily safety inspections and submit written reports.
• Assist with accident/incident investigations and ensure preventative measures.
• Review safety documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Issue and/or ensure permits to subcontractors as necessary.
• Coordinate and accompany project safety audits by the client or others.

Description

As an Assistant Superintendent / Safety Engineer at Perini Management Services, reporting to our Operations Manager , you will have the opportunity to:

• Identifies hazards, develops corrective action plans with the responsible subcontractor, and ensures they are closed in a timely manner.
• Assist with the development and implementation of Activity Hazard Analyses.
• Assists in coordinating the project's safety effort and ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures included in the Site-Specific Safety Plan.
• Attend all construction meetings to provide guidance for the pre-planning of work activities, ensure that employees have required training.
• Provide training to employees and subcontractors, as necessary.
• Facilitate the project safety orientation program and ensure that all employees attend prior to working on-site.
• Participate in project meetings with clients and subcontractors.
• Attend and participate in weekly safety meetings, assist in resolving safety questions and ensure that the meetings are productive and practical.
• Perform daily safety inspections of trades/work areas and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors as they are discovered. Submit a written report to the SSHO daily.
• Assists with accident/incident investigation. Reviews reports to ensure that investigations are complete and that preventative measures are in place.
• Review all safety documentation to ensure records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures.
• Issues and/or ensures all required permits (confined space entry, hot work, etc.) to subcontractors as necessary.
• Coordinate and accompany all project safety audits by the client, owner, insurance or other safety representatives.

Requirements

• Completed the OSHA 30 hr.
• 3+ years of construction safety experience.
• Knowledgeable in construction processes and procedures.
