Job summary

Green Bay Packaging Inc. is seeking an Assistant Paper Machine Superintendent to lead daily production with a focus on safety, efficiency, and quality at the Green Bay mill.

You will drive process improvements, collaborate across departments, and manage maintenance budgeting and shutdowns. The role requires a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or related field and at least five years of management experience in the paper industry.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Paper Science or related field.
• Five years paper industry experience in a management position.
• Strong knowledge of paper machine operations and supporting systems.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Competencies in conflict management, negotiation, organization, analysis, and decision making.
• Ability to delegate, lead, and train key personnel.
• Ability to coordinate with other departments to meet company goals and drive results.
• Experience managing safety, environmental, vendors, production, purchasing, etc.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; capable of conveying complex process data.

Responsibilities

• Increase process reliability, improve product quality, and enhance efficiency through trials and optimization.

• Participate in rotating weekend duty schedule for the Operations area.

Description

Position Overview

Reporting to the Paper Machine Superintendent, the Assistant Paper Machine Superintendent will focus on the areas of operational best practices, technology advancement, process improvement projects, cost improvement projects, capital justification, and planning activities.

Responsibilities

• Optimize daily production operations focusing on safety, environmental stewardship, profit, and productivity
• Increase process reliability, enhance product quality, and improve overall process efficiencies through trial work, experimentation, equipment optimization and training or education
• Collaborate with area superintendents and maintenance department with day-to-day operations
• Assist in short and long-term maintenance budget planning
• Assist in shutdown scheduling and coordination
• Support shift supervisors and production crews in daily operations
• Participate in a rotating weekend duty schedule for the Operations area

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Paper Science or other related field
• Five years paper industry experience in a management position
• A high degree of paper machine operations knowledge and its supporting systems
• Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects at one time
• Possession of key competencies including conflict management, business negotiation, organization, analytical skills, and decision-making
• Ability to delegate responsibilities and provide leadership and training to key personnel
• Ability to work with other departments to achieve GBMD’s visions and strategies by motivating, inspiring and gaining commitment for a course of action that achieves results
• Understanding of how to manage all aspects of operations such as safety, environmental, vendors, production, purchasing, and others
• Superior verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively deliver and reinforce consistent messages at all levels
• Ability to communicate and educate others on complex process issues and statistical data
• Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook as well as experience with Microsoft Project preferred
