Job summary

WSP USA in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Full-Time Assistant Superintendent / Inspector to support our construction management team on multi-trade projects. Be involved in projects with our Construction Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

You will monitor quality, coordinate with trades and clients, review drawings, and ensure safety and compliance on site.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum 5 years in large-scale construction with supervision.
  • Ability to read drawings and coordinate trades.
  • Strong communication and leadership; OSHA-30.

Responsibilities

  • Provide construction inspection for multi-trade contracts per specs.
  • Monitor work and materials to meet quality standards; coordinate with Code Officer.
  • Keep projects on schedule and within budget; meeting client needs.
  • Prepare construction reports and supervise inspectors on site.
  • Maintain a daily log of progress, workforce, materials, and deliveries.
  • Identify and resolve problems; conduct team meetings as needed.
  • Monitor contractor safety and coordinate with Safety Manager.
  • Travel may be required to project sites.
  • Adhere to WSP Code of Conduct and policies.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Assistant Superintendent /Inspector for our client's Syracuse, NY Field Office. Other locations include Albany and Cortland. Be involved in projects with our Construction Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
  • Provide construction management inspection for multi-trade contracts to ensure the project is constructed in conformance with the contract requirements.
  • Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project and coordinate with Regional Code Officer.
  • Ensuring that timely decisions are made to keep projects on schedule and within budgeted costs while meeting clients' needs.
  • Perform inspections, prepare construction reports and expedite the execution of contracts and supervise inspectors.
  • Maintain a written daily log of project progress, actions performed, contractor's workforce, materials approvals and deliveries and issues on the job site.
  • Identify and resolve problems and conflicts, conduct meetings and communicate with team members in various roles as necessary.
  • Monitor contractor safety operations and coordinate with Regional Safety Manager as needed.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum (5) years of experience in construction involving multiple phases of large-scale building/rehabilitation projects, including supervision.
  • Ability to develop and communicate a project work plan, monitor manpower and performance against that work plan, and be able to perform a detailed comparison of the design drawings against each other to ensure coordination between each of the various project trades.
  • Strong communications skills and a collaborative approach working with both client and construction contractor/subcontractors.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • OSHA – 30
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements

Compensation

Expected Rate (all locations): $29.24 - $41.80

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law
