Job summary

MPI is seeking an Assistant Superintendent on behalf of a growing construction and development organization in Maryland. This role offers hands-on exposure to the full project lifecycle on large-scale ground-up multifamily and commercial projects across the Maryland market.

You will support daily site operations, coordinate subcontractors, monitor safety and quality, and participate in project meetings and documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Field Engineer, Project Engineer, Foreman, or similar construction professional.
• Ground-up construction experience strongly preferred.
• Multifamily project experience is ideal; though commercial experience will also be considered.
• Strong understanding of field operations, construction sequencing, and subcontractor coordination.
• Demonstrated leadership potential and desire to grow into a field management position.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and eagerness to learn.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Open to candidates transitioning from subcontractor backgrounds into general contracting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent in managing daily site operations on active projects.
• Coordinate subcontractors, trade partners, and field activities to maintain momentum.
• Monitor quality control, site safety, and adherence to schedules.
• Support site logistics planning across all construction phases.
• Participate in project meetings and communicate field updates.
• Assist with project documentation, reporting, and progress tracking.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and field teams for delivery.
• Gain exposure to preconstruction, turnover, and closeout activities.
• Contribute to ground-up multifamily and commercial developments.
• Build experience and leadership to advance to Superintendent.
