Job summary

MPI in the Mid-Atlantic region seeks an Assistant Project Manager for large multifamily developments. You will support planning, budgeting, scheduling, bid processes, and contract administration from preconstruction through closeout.

You will coordinate subcontractors, track progress, review submittals, manage documentation, and assist with field coordination. A construction background with 3+ years of multifamily experience is ideal.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting or managing multifamily construction projects.
  • Experience with wood-frame multifamily, apartment, affordable housing, mixed-income, or market-rate residential developments.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, scheduling, document control, and contract administration.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and maintain project organization.
  • Experience reviewing submittals, RFIs, change orders, and construction documentation.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Timberline, Bluebeam, Adobe, and On-Screen Takeoff is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  • First Aid/AED training preferred.
  • Additional safety certifications are a plus.
  • Stable employment history with a demonstrated track record of project success.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, permits, and project documentation.
  • Partner with project teams to monitor construction schedules and identify potential delays.
  • Support the Assistant Project Manager function through weekly schedule updates and progress tracking.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with field coordination and project communication.
  • Conduct site visits to review quality, compliance, and progress against project plans.
  • Help manage inspections, testing reports, occupancy requirements, warranties, and closeout documentation.
  • Support safety initiatives by coordinating subcontractor compliance documentation and project safety meetings.
  • Attend project meetings with owners, consultants, lenders, municipalities, and construction teams.
  • Maintain project records, meeting minutes, logs, and reporting requirements.
  • The Assistant Project Manager will play a key role in ensuring projects remain on budget, on schedule, and aligned with quality standards.
  • Work closely with leadership and field teams to proactively resolve project challenges and support successful project delivery.

The Assistant Project Manager will join a growing Mid-Atlantic platform supporting large-scale residential developments from preconstruction through completion. The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with both development and construction teams, while the Assistant Project Manager role provides a clear path for long-term advancement within a financially stable and expanding organization.

Description
