Job summary

Auburn Hills Golf Club, located in Virginia, seeks an Assistant Superintendent to direct and participate in the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers and facilities.

Under supervision and with mentoring, you will plan, supervise and work hands-on in maintenance, schedule daily tasks (including changing cups and tee markers), and implement a turf health program with aeration, topdressing, pesticides and fertilizers.

Qualifications

• Past golf course maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of turf health programs including aeration and topdressing.
• Ability to operate and maintain golf course equipment.
• Valid driver’s license for vehicle/equipment operated.

Responsibilities

• Directs and participates in maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers and facilities.
• Assists in planning, supervising and hands-on maintenance of course features.
• Schedules daily work and may modify the schedule; changes cups and tee markers regularly.
• Implements turf health program including aeration, topdressing, pesticides and fertilizers.
• Operates and maintains golf course equipment; lifts objects as needed.

Assistant Superintendent Auburn Hills Golf Club

Under supervision and mentoring, the assistant directs and participates in the maintenance of all golf course features, equipment and facilities

Assists in planning, supervising and working hands on, in the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, etc.

Schedules works (may modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation). This to include schedule for changing cups and tee markers on a regular basis

Performs the implementation of an overall turf health program. This includes aeration, topdressing and the application of pesticides, fertilizer and chemicals to the golf course turf. Learn to identify and address turf areas prone to “burn out” or “rot”

Operates an assortment of golf course equipment, including but not limited to: mowers, utility vehicles, sweepers, brooms, rollers, rakes, sprayers, loaders, compressors, trenchers, automobiles, etc.

One to two years of past golf course experience desired

Equipment operation and maintenance procedures

Maintain and repair golf course equipment (desired)

The employee will most likely lift light and heavy objects and use tools or equipment

The work is performed outdoors, including cold or inclement weather

The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, irritating chemicals and machinery with moving parts

Valid driver’s license issued by the state for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays as needed, especially during busy season. Busy seasons require work beyond a “normal” 40-hour work week.
