Job summary

Weis Builders, located in Chicago, IL, seeks an Assistant Superintendent to support on-site and office activities, assisting the Project Superintendent and Project Manager. This role offers exposure to project coordination, scheduling, and field operations.

You will interact with clients, vendors, and architects while growing practical construction experience within a collaborative team. A 4-year degree is required and travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with construction management software such as Excel, CMiC, Procore.
• Strong teamwork, client-focused mindset, and flexibility for travel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with take-offs, permits, labor reports, and two-week look-ahead schedules.
• Build relationships with clients, architects, and vendors to support continuity.
• Lead safety meetings, maintain logs, and address safety concerns.
• Coordinate subcontractors, materials, and equipment as needed.
• Apply QC practices to meet quality standards and complete paperwork promptly.
• Support cost control by tracking labor hours and PO logs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with various project duties such as material take-offs, obtaining permits, preparing labor reports, and creating 2-week look-ahead schedules
• Build strong relationships with clients, architects, and vendors to support project continuity and growth
• Ensure a safe work environment by leading safety meetings, maintaining safety logs, and addressing any safety concerns
• Communicate effectively with the project team to resolve specific project issues and ensure smooth operations
• Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, material deliveries, and equipment as needed
• Apply Quality Control best practices to meet or exceed quality standards
• Complete all required paperwork professionally and promptly
• Support cost control efforts by tracking labor hours and maintaining accurate purchase order logs
• Gain knowledge of building codes and ensure compliance across project activities

Requirements

• Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related construction field
• Experience with construction management software such as Excel, CMiC, Procore, or other similar project management tools
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to build rapport with others
• A positive attitude and a client-focused mindset, with a keen awareness of client needs
