Pet Supplies Plus 4007 in Wilmington, NC is seeking an Assistant Store Team Leader who is pawsitively passionate about people and their pets. You will support the Store Team Leader in running day-to-day operations, lead the team by example, and deliver neighborly service to every customer and their furry family members.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of retail or customer-facing leadership, strong communication and coaching skills, and is comfortable with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail or customer-facing leadership experience.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar tools.
• Must be 18+ years old and able to meet hiring requirements set by the local franchise owner

Responsibilities

• Lead your team by example and deliver neighborly service.
• Greet neighbors and their pets to create a welcoming in-store experience.
• Assist customers in choosing the best products for their pets.
• Support store performance including sales, engagement, and productivity.
• Help analyze results and partner with leadership on plans to improve performance.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and developing a strong team.
• Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to team members.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-run store environment (including animal care and safety).
• Build relationships within the community and support local events and partnerships.
• Help create a fun, positive culture where both pets and people feel at home.

Requirements and Responsibilities

• 2+ years of retail or customer-facing leadership experience


• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred (High School Diploma/GED required)


• Strong communication and leadership skills


• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar tools


• Ability to lift up to 65 lbs and perform physical tasks (climbing, bending, kneeling)


• Ability to operate store equipment as needed


• Reliable transportation and ability to work flexible schedules


• Must be 18+ years old and able to meet hiring requirements set by the local franchise owner
