As an Assistant Store Team Leader, you’re pawsitively passionate about people and their pets. You will support the Store Team Leader in running the day-to-day operations of the store, leading the team by example, and delivering exceptional, neighborly service at every opportunity. Whether you’re welcoming a new puppy, jumping in to help a team member find the right solution for a pet parent, or partnering on ways to improve store performance, you play a key role in creating a fun, engaging, and pet‑centric environment where both pets and people thrive.

What You’ll Do

• Support and lead your team by example, delivering exceptional, neighborly service
• Jump in to greet neighbors and their pets and create a welcoming in-store experience
• Assist customers in choosing the best products for their pets’ needs
• Support store performance including sales, engagement, and overall productivity
• Help analyze results and partner with leadership on plans to improve performance
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and developing a strong team
• Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to team members
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑run store environment (including animal care and safety)
• Build relationships within the community and support local events and partnerships
• Help create a fun, positive culture where both pets and people feel at home

Requirements and Responsibilities

• 2+ years of retail or customer‑facing leadership experience
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred (High School Diploma/GED required)
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar tools
• Ability to lift up to 65 lbs and perform physical tasks (climbing, bending, kneeling)
• Ability to operate store equipment as needed
• Reliable transportation and ability to work flexible schedules
• Must be 18+ years old and able to meet hiring requirements set by the local franchise owner
