Job summary

Micro Center in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager - Operations to oversee daily store operations, inventory, and team development, ensuring exceptional customer service and operational excellence. You will coach associates, manage staffing, and implement promotional standards while acting as Manager-on-Duty in the absence of leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-volume retail environment (30,000+ sq. ft.).
  • Proven experience in retail management, including sales, operations, merchandising, inventory, and customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and retain a strong team.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to execute corporate strategies and analyze market competition.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Occasional travel required for meetings, trainings, and other business-related needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, organized store by following policies and procedures.
  • Drive performance by meeting or exceeding goals related to inventory, customer satisfaction, productivity, payroll, and expenses.
  • Oversee inventory management, including physical counts, freight flow, merchandise processing, and asset tracking.
  • Lead front-end operations and supervise opening and closing procedures.
  • Act as Manager-on-Duty in the absence of the General Manager or other store leaders.
  • Ensure consistent execution of promotional displays and merchandising standards.
  • Manage staffing, including hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling.
  • Develop and coach supervisors and associates across departments in customer service, product knowledge, sales techniques, and operational procedures.
  • Address employee relations matters with Store Manager and Regional HR as needed.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

About the Role

We are currently seeking a self-motivated, results-oriented ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER - OPERATIONS. This role oversees daily store operations, inventory management, team development, and customer satisfaction while ensuring operational excellence and strong business results. You'll lead, coach, and inspire associates to achieve performance goals, deliver outstanding service, and support a positive workplace culture.

What You'll Do
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient store environment by ensuring all policies and procedures are consistently followed
  • Drive performance by meeting or exceeding goals related to inventory control, customer satisfaction, productivity, payroll, and expenses
  • Oversee inventory management, including physical counts, freight flow, merchandise processing, and asset tracking
  • Lead front-end operations to ensure customer concerns are resolved promptly and in accordance with company standards. Execute and supervise opening and closing procedures
  • Act as Manager-on-Duty in the absence of the General Manager or other store leaders
  • Ensure consistent execution of promotional displays, ad sets, and visual merchandising standards
  • Manage staffing processes, including hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling to support business needs
  • Develop and coach supervisors and associates across all departments in customer service, product knowledge, sales techniques, and operational procedures. Provide ongoing feedback and performance coaching to ensure the team is aligned with store goals.
  • Address employee relations matters in compliance with company guidelines; collaborate with Store Manager and Regional HR as needed
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
What We're Looking For
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-volume retail environment (30,000+ sq. ft.), preferably with a big-box retailer or in consumer electronics
  • Proven experience in retail management, including sales, operations, merchandising, inventory, and customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and retain a strong team
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to execute corporate strategies and analyze market competition
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Occasional travel required for meetings, trainings, and other business-related needs
  • Requires standing and walking throughout the store for the duration of each shift, with periods of sitting for administrative tasks
  • Requires frequent manual lifting and carrying of 11-75 lbs and occasional manual lifting of 76-100 lbs to load equipment and stock shelves
  • Requires the constant use of manual tools, including pallet jacks and dollies, alongside repetitive keyboard operation
