Job summary

America's Thrift Stores seeks a Retail Assistant Manager to support the General Manager in daily store operations, lead and train team members, uphold company values, and drive profitability and community impact.

You will recruit, train, coach, manage inventory and loss prevention, ensure excellent customer service, manage cash handling, and collaborate with HR on staff development and compliance.

Qualifications

Position Title: Assistant Manager, Retail

Position Purpose and Objectives

As a Retail Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in the daily operations of the store, ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers while supporting the General Manager (GM) in achieving business goals. You will lead, train, and develop team members, uphold company values, and drive operational excellence. • Ensure accuracy in cash handling, deposits, and financial reporting.
• Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety regulations while conducting regular audits and compliance checks.
• Collaborate with HR and Asset Protection on investigations and corrective actions when necessary.
• Support donation processing by ensuring efficient intake, organization, and donor engagement.
• Work closely with management to enhance store performance through optimized donation flow and a positive donor and shopping environment.

Skills and Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a retail management, logistics, or operations role.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills with a proven ability to motivate staff.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with POS systems.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
