Job summary

Moon Valley Nurseries seeks an Assistant Store Manager to work with the GM to deliver best-in-class customer service in our retail nursery operations. You will oversee assigned operations, supervise staff, and ensure sales targets and profitability through effective merchandising, training, and expense control.

You will lead by example in safety, service, and integrity, maintaining high standards, managing stock levels, and coordinating with departments on promotions and events.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in retail operations.
• At least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
• Experience in a retail, nursery, landscaping, or related environment preferred.
• Solid management skills with a basic understanding of HR and sales fundamentals.
• Understanding of sales and operations planning, demand forecasting and marketing.
• Excellent customer relations and interpersonal skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-directed and able to meet inflexible deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a full service MVN retail nursery operation and manage assigned duties.
• Train and develop store management and staff; monitor performance.
• Ensure outstanding customer service in a safe, clean environment.
• Control loss, expenses, payroll and employee turnover.
• Maintain merchandising standards and manage POS transactions.
• Support logistics, installation, and delivery activities.
