Position Purpose:

Assistant Store Managers in Training are learning the various responsibilities and functions of roles such as Assistant Store Manager, Operations Assistant Store Manager, Night Operations Assistant Store Manager, and Specialty Assistant Store Manager. They support the Store Manager in developing strategies and objectives to drive store sales and profitability, and learn effective leadership and communication skills to motivate and guide associates.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Customer Service: Supervise associates in sales efforts, ensure the store's in-stock position, and maintain an appealing, organized store appearance. Support staffing, scheduling, resolving stock deficiencies, customer issues, and service needs for installed sales, special orders, and product sales.
  2. Supervising Store Associates: Involve interviewing, hiring, motivating, coaching, training, developing, and communicating with associates. Learn the performance management process, including semi-annual reviews and disciplinary procedures.
  3. Operations Management: Supervise front-end processes like sales, returns, and special services. Oversee back-end processes, including receiving and freight, ensuring proper stock handling. Maintain store equipment and systems, and manage daily financial operations, with a focus on safety compliance.
  4. Business Analysis and Merchandise Planning: Drive department profitability through sales trend analysis. Collaborate with key partners for merchandise placement and signing, and support inventory management to maintain stock integrity.
Reporting and Travel:
  • Report to a Store Manager. After training, gradually assume supervision of associates.
  • Overnight travel is typically less than 10%.
Physical and Working Conditions:
  • Primarily sitting, with opportunities to move. Rarely, may need to lift light articles.
  • Work is indoors in a comfortable environment; infrequent unpleasant conditions.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:
  • Must be 18+, legally permitted to work in the U.S., with at least 3 years of work experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required. No additional education or leadership experience required.
Certifications and Competencies:
  • No certifications required.
  • Key competencies include acting with integrity, product knowledge, customer service excellence, inspiring achievement, safety orientation, and result delivery.
