Job summary

Family Dollar in Brandon, Mississippi is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help oversee store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with day-to-day activities, organize merchandise, and ensure the store runs smoothly.

The role requires strong communication skills, ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and a commitment to safety and customer service. You will work with the Store Manager to train and develop staff while maintaining a clean, welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives (e.g., merchandise schematics).
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll/scheduling/receipts, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help store manager supervise, train, and develop store associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain store cleanliness and restock bathrooms, floors, and trash areas.
• Other duties as assigned.
