Job summary

Family Dollar in Geismar, LA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with day-to-day store activities, support the Store Manager, and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for customers and staff.

The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and prior store-management experience in retail or grocery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read and interpret directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform multidirectional movement as required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment and provide exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from deliver y truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, record-keeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash handling) and loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and procedures including safety guidelines.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash.
• Other duties as assigned.
