Job summary

Family Dollar in Tampa, FL is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, elevate customer service, and develop team members. You will support merchandising, stock transfers, scheduling, and loss prevention while upholding company standards and safety policies.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and a hands-on approach to training staff and fostering a friendly, efficient shopping environment for customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform frequent walking, standing, kneeling, and repetitive lifting
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and store communications
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping, and loss prevention
• Maintain clean, well-stocked sales floor and stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, and trash removal
• Other duties as assigned*
