Job summary

Family Dollar in Nashville, TN is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help oversee daily store operations, customer service, and team development.

You will supervise store associates, assist with opening/closing, merchandising, scheduling, and loss prevention, while ensuring a safe, friendly shopping environment for customers and staff.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and problem solving, with a focus on maintaining store standards and delivering excellent service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical store duties as needed.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment and deliver customer service.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll/scheduling, cash deposits/receipts, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked, organized store and stockroom per company standards.
• Protect store assets, including cash, and follow safety policies.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness including restrooms, floors, trash, and neat store presentation.
