Family Dollar in Elkhart, IN is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with opening/closing, organize merchandise, and ensure shelves and stockroom are well maintained.

This role requires strong communication, the ability to lead a team, handle payroll and scheduling tasks, uphold safety and policy standards, and provide a positive, first‑class shopping experience for customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and frequent walking/standing.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service and organizational skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day store activities and operations.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize, and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effects of store fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged items, record-keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash handling), and loss prevention.
• Maintain a clean, stocked sales floor and organized stockroom per company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager train and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Ensure cleanliness of the store, restocking bathrooms, sweeping/mopping floors, trash removal, and neatness.
