Job summary

Dollar Tree is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service and team development at our Des Plaines, IL location. You will support open/close procedures, merchandising, staffing, and loss prevention while maintaining a safe, friendly environment for customers and team members.

Qualified candidates will have strong communication skills, the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and experience in retail management or similar settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in store management in retail, grocery, or drugstore preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Strong communication and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor as needed.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process all corporate directives including Pull and Hold/Destroy and other communications.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
