Job summary

Hibbett I City Gear in York, SC is seeking an Assistant Manager to support Store Manager in daily operations, sales, merchandising, scheduling and customer service. This non-exempt, hourly role reports to the Store Manager and leads in the Manager’s absence.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, handling inventory, training, and delivering outstanding service while promoting merchandise and maintaining store standards in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
• 1-3 years of customer service experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
• Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
• Team-player, passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager in controlling assets of the store and in establishing action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
• Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Consult with the Store Manager in establishing action plans to accomplish departmental and overall store responsibilities.
• Assist in overall personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
• Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
• Be aware of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.
• Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
• Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
• Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
• Perform general administrative duties and be trained in Store Manager responsibilities.
• Provide extraordinary customer service and assist customers entering the store, including during peak periods.
• Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett I City Gear.
• Uphold all company policies, procedures, and standards as listed in manuals and memos.
• Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal controls and reporting potential fraud.
