Job summary

Family Dollar in Parkersburg, WV is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to assist with store operations, customer service, and staff development. You will help with day-to-day activities, organize merchandise, and ensure a clean, compliant store environment.

The role requires strong communication and teamwork, with the ability to lift up to 55 lbs. This is a part-time position with a focus on maintaining store standards and safe operations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, interpret, and explain operational directives (e.g., merchandise schematics).
• Retail store management experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, walking, etc.).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor as needed.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process all corporate directives related to store activities (Pull and Hold/Destroy, compliance).
• Maintain promotional storefront fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged items, record-keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits).
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure staff follow procedures.
• Support Store Manager in supervising, training, and developing Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness across the store, restrooms, floors, and waste management.
