Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help maintain a clean, well-organized store focused on customer satisfaction. Under the Store Manager's direction, you will supervise staff, manage merchandise presentation, complete paperwork, and assist with deposits, while supporting profitability and asset protection.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Able to solve problems and handle various situations.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Able to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules and procedures manuals.
• Capable of performing basic math calculations including percentages.
• Experience with cash register operations and reporting requirements.
• Knowledge of cash handling, deposit control and loss prevention procedures.
• Willingness to drive to the bank for deposits.

Responsibilities

• Lead superior customer service and operate the cash register to complete purchases.
• Open and close the store at least twice per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Manage merchandise flow: receiving, stocking, display and planograms.
• Help maintain accurate inventory and reduce damages and losses.
• Support implementation and maintenance of planograms for appealing displays.
• Ensure cashier integrity, cash control, refunds and tills deposits.
• Assist in store management in Store Manager's absence.
