Overview
Break Time Assistant Managers assist in the management and operations of a Break Time Convenience Store, including managing the location in the Store Manager’s absence, coaching and mentoring team members, and assisting with store finances, such as controlling expenses. Assistant Managers are energetic leaders who believe it only takes a moment to make your day better.

Responsibilities
- Working with customers — Provide excellent customer service by engaging with customers and encouraging the store team to do the same; consistently and courteously greet and thank each customer; provide fast and friendly service; support peak hours; handle complaints quickly and courteously; conduct transactions efficiently.
- Day-to-day store operations — Assist in all aspects of store operation including reporting, banking, inventory, bookkeeping, fuel management, and maintaining the facility and equipment; ensure cleanliness; ensure timely opening and closing; execute food programs with safety and promotion.
- Merchandising and sales — Assist in executing marketing programs; perform merchandising activities including pricing, promotions, and stocking; suggestively sell; manage vendor check-ins; keep merchandise stocked and presentable.
- Supervising — Assist in store operations; perform shift supervision; contribute to performance evaluations; promote food safety; train new employees on policies and procedures.
- Communication — Maintain professional communication with customers, vendors, employees, and management regarding store operations.
- Financial Responsibility — Understand store finances; control shortages and expenses; participate in audits; perform loss control; help meet sales and expense goals.
- Teamwork — Assist in recruiting, training, coaching, and developing team members; promote professionalism and teamwork; ensure compliance with regulations.
- Working with technology — Use store technology including POS systems and devices; perform calculations; complete reports; count products.
- Additional duties — Adhere to company policies; perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- 18 years or older
- Availability for all shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance; secure transport for deposits
- Strong customer service skills
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Works well individually and in teams
- Accurate and self-supervised
- Mathematical skills for transactions and reporting
- Ability to learn new systems and operate office equipment
- Physical ability to handle products in cold environments and lift up to 50 pounds
- Stand for up to nine hours; ascend/descend ladders; observe safety and environment
- Effective communication in English
- Meet background and drug screening requirements
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred Skills
- Management or leadership experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Retail sales experience
