Responsibilities/Qualifications

As Assistant Store Team Leader at Pet Supplies Plus, you're pawsitively passionate about people and their pets. Providing exceptional, neighborly service at every opportunity, you will:

  • Help your store team by example – including greeting neighbors and their pets when they enter the store
  • Recognize local rescue coordinators and support community events like adoption days
  • Engage in conversations with neighbors about pet products and needs
  • Analyze store sales results and develop plans to maximize sales, neighbor engagement, and productivity in partnership with the Store Team Leader
  • Create a fun, positive environment for the team and neighbors, fostering a reputation for trustworthy, pet-centric service

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in operational management of the store
  • Adhering to policies on cleanliness, animal care, safety, and security
  • Supporting team engagement and morale through recognition, motivation, and development
  • Assisting in staffing, recruiting, and onboarding new team members
  • Providing coaching and feedback to foster a learning culture
  • Partnering with community organizations for events and marketing opportunities

Qualifications for Assistant Store Team Leader candidates include:

  • 2+ years of retail team leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; high school diploma/GED required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and good communication skills
  • Ability to operate store equipment, including forklifts, and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Flexibility in work schedules, reliable transportation, and ability to pass drug testing; must be 18+
