JOB OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager performs the following duties:
TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee, direct, and assist in store and restaurant operations
- Follow up on cashier settlements, store promotions, and shift coverage
- Communicate directly with department managers regarding their issues, concerns, and achievements
- Interact with personnel on HR matters such as scheduling, communication, and reviews
- Walk the sales floor to monitor and interact with customers and employees
- Greet customers and maintain good customer relations regarding inquiries, compliments, complaints, and special requests
- Review daily sales and monitor labor costs
- Coordinate training schedules for new hires with department managers for optimal instruction
- Read and respond to managerial reports, relaying important information to relevant staff
- Identify areas for service improvement and implement processes or changes accordingly
- Conduct daily visual inspections of the premises and consult staff about the facility's condition
- Ensure safety and security of the store and staff
- Lead staff efforts to ensure productivity and high-quality customer service
- Report malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate personnel
- Develop and execute merchandising plans, including attractive displays and promotional activities
- Support the Store Manager in strategy execution to enhance product placement and appearance
- Perform staff duties when necessary
- Act as a role model, fostering a positive attitude among employees
- Write incident reports for accidents or injuries and follow company procedures
- Handle emergencies, crises, and daily problems within the store
- Develop future leaders and ensure employee training
QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Experience
- Prior experience as an assistant store manager, department manager, or equivalent
Knowledge of
- Proficiency in English (reading and writing at an advanced level)
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook), excellent customer service, and basic math proficiency
Abilities
- Demonstrate leadership and customer service skills
- Model excellent service and hold staff accountable
- Be prepared to cover breaks as needed
- Place service calls and coordinate with vendors and contractors
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Lift groceries, bulk items, produce up to 100 times daily
- Carry items from carts or dollies to shelves (<3 ft.)
- Push/pull carts, dollies, electric pallet jacks
- Stand, walk, bend, and twist frequently
- Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly
Special Requirements:
- Availability for various shifts as needed
- Willingness to work at all store locations as required
