Job description

Overview

We’re looking for an agile, results-driven retail leader and comfort enthusiast to join our Williamsburg store as Assistant Store Manager. Reporting to the Store Manager, you’ll help lead the business by overseeing daily operations, managing resources, and driving store and team performance.

Our stores operate with lean, agile teams of approximately 6–8 people, so this role requires a leader who can balance effective delegation with hands‑on selling. You’ll thrive here if you enjoy improving processes, coaching others, and delivering exceptional customer experiences while partnering with the Store Manager to bring our brand to life.

What You’ll Do:
  • Daily Operational Autonomy & Leadership: Lead daily store operations with almost complete autonomy, ensuring seamless execution of business objectives, smooth shift handoffs, and taking full command of the store in the absence of the Store Manager.

  • Execution of the Selling & Service Model: Model high standards for our premium selling and service model on every shift. Set the hospitality standard by creating a warm, welcoming environment where customers feel valued, educated, and connected to our brand.

  • Active Floor Delegation & Coaching: Supervise, coach, and motivate Sales Leads and Sales Associates in the moment. Effectively delegate tasks across the floor and monitor team performance to ensure high productivity and consistent customer service.

  • Platform-Driven Clienteling: Take active ownership of the store’s digital clienteling platform. Coach the team on relationship‑building techniques, monitor clienteling execution, and follow up on metrics to maximize repeat business and long‑term customer loyalty.

  • People Development & Accountability: Own day‑to‑day training and onboarding execution. Partner closely with the Store Manager on team development, delivering future‑facing feedback, and supporting annual performance reviews and quarterly performance check‑ins.

  • Inventory Accuracy & Operational Control: Partner with the Store Manager to oversee back‑of‑house operations and resolve inventory discrepancies. Drive rigorous inventory accuracy, manage shrink control, and ensure stock flow perfectly supports sales trends.

  • Strategic Scheduling Support: Assist the Store Manager with labor management by building effective coverage structures, handling staffing and scheduling conflicts, and determining real‑time staffing adjustments based on floor traffic.

  • Visual Merchandising Execution: Translate brand initiatives into flawless floor execution. Implement visual merchandising directives provided by the HQ Visual team, adapting guidelines to your store’s unique layout to keep soft home and bedding displays styled beautifully.

  • Local Trade, Events, & Activations: Participate in the planning and flawless execution of in‑store events, localized activations, and targeted outreach to drive trade business and capture new local clients.

  • Problem Solving & HQ Feedback Loop: Resolve daily operational and customer escalations with care and confidence. Partner with your Store Manager and HQ when testing new tools, piloting initiatives, or escalating field insights.

We're Looking For Someone With:
  • 3+ years of retail management experience in a premium, specialized, or high‑volume retail environment, with a strong track record of training and coaching teams.

  • Agility for a growth‑stage environment: Experience working in an environment where you have successfully navigated scaling processes and helped optimize systems as a brand grows.

  • The ability to pivot from leader to doer: A floor leader who can step back to monitor total team performance, but who also loves being a hands‑on executor who works side‑by‑side with a lean team to drive sales.

  • A passion for the \"Soft Home\" space: A genuine love for comfort, home styling, and product education, with the creative flair to help customers mix, match, and design their dream bed and bath setups.

  • Operational and data‑driven acumen: Experience managing inventory, optimizing promotional execution, and utilizing digital clienteling platforms to achieve performance goals.

  • Strong collaboration and problem‑solving skills: A calm, solution‑oriented mindset with the ability to build trust, resolve scheduling or staffing conflicts, and foster a culture of open communication.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to work a retail schedule, including evenings, holidays, and weekend shifts based on the needs of the business.

  • Familiarity with select retail and workplace systems is a plus: Experience working within an Apple‑based ecosystem (iPads/Macs) and utilizing platforms like Shopify POS, NetSuite, Slack, and Google Workspace to manage daily store operations, inventory tracking, and team communications.
