About the Position:

As our Assistant Store Manager, you are an ambassador of the store, demonstrating excellent hospitality for both guests and team members. In conjunction with the Store Manager, you will help strengthen team engagement, maximize team productivity, and drive business results.

What You'll Do:

• Lead by example as a store ambassador, educating team members and guests on products and services to provide meal solutions
• Create and manage team schedules with the store manager, aligning with guest shopping hours to ensure an excellent shopping experience
• Assist in analyzing sales reports, P&L reports, and other metrics to make and execute business decisions and plans
• Assist in forecasting and maintaining store teams by collaborating with the Store Manager and Talent Acquisition in sourcing, selecting, and hiring new team members
• Partner with the Guest Services Manager to provide team members with a hospitable orientation and onboarding experience
• Assist with training the team through The Fresh Market Academy and on-the-job training to ensure excellent guest service in a safe manner
• Coach team members to optimize operations, foster team development, and increase retention
• Assist in managing store inventories and teams to minimize product loss
• Ensure team members adhere to The Fresh Market standards and policies
• Manage the store’s social media presence following company guidelines
• Partner with store and department managers to enhance teamwork and engagement
• Ensure department adherence to all safety and food safety requirements and protocols, including legal compliance

Availability:

This position requires willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 5-7 years of retail experience and leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook
• Proven communication skills for effective interaction with team members, management, and guests
• Ability to read and follow planograms, layouts, and policies

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in Perishable, Hospitality, or Grocery Retail
• Production Planning Software experience
• Experience with Applicant Tracking Software (iCIMS preferred)

Physical and Work Conditions:

• Repetitive movements, grasping, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, exposure to extreme temperatures
• Use of tools and equipment such as knives, ladders, pallet jacks, etc. (unless under 18)
• Long periods of standing or walking, up to 4 hours or as required by law
• Wearing approved protective gear such as hats, hair nets, beard guards
