About the Position:

As our Assistant Store Manager, you are an ambassador of the store, demonstrating excellent hospitality for both guests and team members. In conjunction with the Store Manager, you will help strengthen team engagement, maximize team productivity, and play a role in driving business results.
What You'll Do:
- Act as a store ambassador and lead by example in providing exemplary hospitality to guests and team members; educate team members and guests on products and services to provide meal solutions
- Create and manage team schedules with the store manager, aligning with guest shopping hours to ensure an excellent shopping experience
- Assist in analyzing sales reports, P&L reports, and other metrics to make and execute business decisions and plans that drive success
- Assist in forecasting and maintaining store teams by collaborating with the Store Manager and Talent Acquisition in sourcing, selecting, and hiring new team members
- Partner with the Guest Services Manager to provide team members with a hospitable orientation and onboarding experience
- Assist with training via The Fresh Market Academy and on-the-job training to ensure excellent guest service in a safe manner
- Coach team members to optimize operations, support team development, and increase retention
- Help manage store inventories and teams to minimize product loss
- Ensure team members adhere to The Fresh Market standards and policies
- Manage the store’s social media presence following company guidelines
- Collaborate with store and department managers to promote teamwork and engagement
- Ensure compliance with safety and food safety protocols per company policies and legal requirements
Availability:
This position requires a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.
Qualifications:
Minimum requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; 5-7 years of retail experience, including leadership roles
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to read and follow planograms, layouts, and policies
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in Perishable, Hospitality, or Grocery Retail
- Experience with Production Planning Software
- Experience with Applicant Tracking Software (iCIMS preferred)
Physical and Work Conditions:
- Repetitive movements, lifting up to 50 pounds, exposure to extreme temperatures
- Use of tools and equipment like knives, ladders, pallet jacks
- Long periods on feet, wearing protective gear as required
