GENERAL PURPOSE:
Manage and supervise all areas assigned by the Store Manager, following policies regarding Customers, Associates, and merchandising. Learn all phases of Store operations. In the absence of the Store Manager, lead the entire store to ensure company standards are met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General Operating Requirements:
- Lead company best practices and maximize productivity.
- Analyze store reports to evaluate expenses and performance.
- Communicate variances to standards to the Store Manager.
- Ensure proper scheduling of associates.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Oversee cleaning tasks and safety procedures.
- Accept special assignments from leadership.
- Manage payroll administration and reporting.
Organizational Development:
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing staff.
- Ensure compliance with personnel policies.
- Address associate relations issues appropriately.
Expense Control:
- Monitor expenditures within budget.
- Control payroll hours and adjust to business trends.
Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment:
- Prioritize safety in all activities.
- Ensure associates understand emergency procedures.
- Maintain adherence to safety policies.
- Facilitate safety meetings.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers and associates with respect.
- Demonstrate professionalism and recognize staff achievements.
- Implement customer service and merchandise presentation programs.
- Supervise and coach associates in service tasks.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent the company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance and store environment.
- Ensure store cleanliness and organization.
Merchandise Processing and In-Store Marketing:
- Manage merchandise recovery, sizing, and markdowns.
- Organize merchandise according to guidelines.
- Ensure timely merchandise processing.
Loss Prevention:
- Train staff on loss prevention awareness.
- Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information.
- Lead inventory and stock management processes.
Core Competencies:
- Manage work processes, demonstrate business acumen, plan and prioritize, build talent, collaborate, lead by example, communicate effectively, ensure accountability and execution.
Qualifications and Skills:
- At least 2 years of retail management experience.
- Strong supervisory, motivational, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and exercise judgment.
- High customer service standards.
- Fluency in English.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
- Basic math skills.
Physical Requirements/ADA:
- Operate store equipment.
- Stand, walk, and move around extensively.
- Perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and reaching.
- Occasionally lift over 25 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct supervision of non-exempt associates.
