About the Position:

Do you have a passion for food? Are you committed to delivering an excellent experience for guests? If so, this may be the perfect job for you. As our Assistant Store Manager, you are an ambassador of the store, demonstrating excellent hospitality for both guests and team members. In conjunction with the Store Manager, you will help strengthen team engagement, maximize team productivity, and drive business results.

What You'll Do:

  • Be a store ambassador and a leading example of hospitality, educating team members and guests on products and services to provide meal solutions
  • Create and manage team schedules with the store manager, aligning with guest shopping hours to ensure excellent shopping experiences
  • Assist in analyzing sales reports, P&L reports, and other metrics to make business decisions and plan strategies
  • Assist in forecasting and maintaining store teams by collaborating with the Store Manager and Talent Acquisition for sourcing, selecting, and hiring new team members
  • Partner with the Guest Services Manager to provide a hospitable orientation and onboarding experience for team members
  • Assist with training the team through The Fresh Market Academy and on-the-job training to ensure excellent guest service in a safe manner
  • Coach team members to optimize operations, develop skills, and increase retention
  • Assist in managing store inventories and teams to minimize product loss
  • Ensure team members adhere to The Fresh Market standards and policies
  • Manage the store’s social media presence following company guidelines
  • Partner with store and department managers to enhance teamwork and engagement
  • Ensure compliance with safety and food safety protocols, including law and company policies

Availability:

This position requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; 5-7 years of retail experience, with at least years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with team members, management, and guests
  • Ability to read and follow planograms, layouts, and policies

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in Perishable, Hospitality, or Grocery Retail
  • Experience with Production Planning Software
  • Experience with Applicant Tracking Software (iCIMS preferred)

Physical and Work Conditions:

  • Repetitive movements, lifting up to 50 pounds, exposure to temperatures
  • Use of tools and equipment such as knives, ladders, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Long periods on feet, wearing protective gear as required
